Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2001 20:48:47 +0000 From: Fred Balin <> To: Bob Lash Subject: Final Update: 3/5 Homebrew Commemoration 8:48:47 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2001 Bob, This email is going out to Homebrew 3/5/75 Originals (as per Gordon's list below) with whom I have been in direct or indirect contact; to Roger Melen; and to John Toole and Karen Mathews of The Computer Museum History Center. This is an update regarding Monday evening's Homebrew commemoration at our SMUG meeting at SLAC. 1. Change In SLAC Meeting Site I was shocked to learn on Tuesday that Stanford had pre-empted our use of the SLAC auditorium for an unnamed important event on Tuesday and required auditorium setup on Monday. Argh! Working with our contacts at SLAC, we have quickly moved Monday's venue to The Training Center, a smaller (180 seat max) temporary building and meeting room. I was up there on Friday. It's not perfect, but it will do. We are also trying to arrange for overflow seating and intranet videocasting to the Orange Room (80 seats), if needed. Our Homebrew presentation will be videotaped. 2. Location of the Training Center As you enter SLAC, take a left at the gate. The Training Center is adjacent to the first (small) parking lot on the left. You will probably have to park in a lot further down and walk back. 3. Admittance At the sign-in tables outside the Training Center, go to the section marked "Invited Guests." [I plan to be standing there from 6:30 to 7:25.] You will receive a card/ticket. At the front of the room there will be two areas of reserved seats for you. If friends of yours are coming, they need to get there early (6:30) and sign in at the table area marked "Public." 4. Evening's Program 6:30 - 7:25 SMUG club events. [You do not need to be present or at your reserved seats.] 7:25 - 7:30 Short Break 7:30 - Homebrew Presentation a. Other Original 32 members are introduced and join presenters i. Unaccounted Among the 32 I have to stop locating "originals" at this time, but if you come across any of the "?" marks listed below, tell them to contact me and I'll hold a ticket and seat for them and they will be introduced.
